In Guimaraes, we’ll visit the historic center and the Castle of Guimaraes, which is considered the birthplace of Portugal.

Guimarães is a historic city located in the northwest region of Portugal. It is known as the birthplace of the Portuguese nation, as it was here that Afonso Henriques, the first king of Portugal, was born in the 12th century.

The city’s historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and features a well-preserved medieval castle, the Castle of Guimarães, as well as the Palace of the Dukes of Braganza, a Gothic-style palace dating back to the 14th century.

The city is also home to the impressive Guimarães Cathedral, built in the 12th century. Visitors can also explore the charming old town, with its narrow streets and traditional architecture, as well as a number of museums, such as the Martins Sarmento Museum, which features a collection of local artifacts and art.

In Braga, we’ll admire the stunning baroque architecture of the Bom Jesus do Monte Sanctuary and the Gothic-style Cathedral of Braga.

The most prominent is the Cathedral of Braga, also known as Sé de Braga, a 12th-century Romanesque church that is the seat of the Archbishop of Braga. In Ponte de Lima, we’ll stroll through the picturesque streets and visit the medieval bridge, which gives the town its name.

The town’s historic center is home to charming cobblestone streets, traditional architecture, and a number of monuments and landmarks, including the Gothic-style Igreja de Santa Maria, the Renaissance-style Paços do Concelho, and the Baroque-style Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira.

Ponte de Lima is also known for its lively festivals and events, such as the Festa das Vindimas, a wine festival held in September, and the Festa de São João, a June festival that features traditional music and dance. Additionally, the town is surrounded by lush green countryside and offers many opportunities for outdoor activities, such as hiking and cycling.
