Baixa, or downtown Lisbon, is the heart of the city.

It’s the main shopping and banking district that stretches from the riverfront to the main avenue (Avenida da Liberdade). It was completely rebuilt after the Great Earthquake of 1755. This was Europe’s first great example of neoclassical design and urban planning and one of the finest European architectural achievements of the age.

Join us on a walking tour and experience the sounds and smells of one of the oldest European Capitals, which had to rebuild itself after a massive earthquake followed by a tsunami hit in 1755. It was Europe’s worst recorded earthquake but it also led to the continent’s first neoclassical urban planning with the world’s first large-scale earthquake-proof construction.

Some of the streets are pedestrianized and connect a number of monumental neoclassical squares.

Walk from Rossio and its cafes to the waterfront Praca do Comercio, overlooked by a triumphal arch.

Go to the impressive Praca do Municipio where the City Hall stands.

While you immerse yourself in Lisbon’s unique cobblestoned streets, our guide will provide context on the history, culture and daily life of Portugal.

I visited Portugal in October as part of a work trip, and added on a few days of solo travel at the end. Ricardo worked with our company to organize amazing excursions and visits. Every one of his choices was top notch from the restaurants to the hotels to the experiences. Ricardo went above and beyond, making sure I had everything I needed for my solo travels at the end of the work trip. He was very thorough, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable, and generally just a lovely human being. Ricardo was more than accommodating! His help and service was 5 star. He coordinated so many things for us, was there to make sure we made our activities. We had 3 drivers that were personable, safe and kind. Jakim (totally did not spell this correctly) was my favorite although the other two drivers were safe and informative on our drives from city to city. I can’t say enough about Ricardo’s service. He was always available to text or call for any questions or suggestions. I would totally reserve his services again when in Portugal!

What started off as a transfer from Lisbon to Porto turned into a dream vacation! I first contacted 4u2enjoy in 2019 and booked a driver for a transfer from Lisbon to Porto stopping along the way. Unfortunately, our trip was for 2020 and we had to cancel...4u2enjoy canceled our booking without any difficulty. Because of this hassle free experience, when we were ready to try again we contacted 4u2enjoy to make arrangements for a 2022 trip.

After talking with Ricardo, what started as just a transfer became transfers, tours and hotels! Everything he suggested and every arrangement was spectacular! From the beautiful boutique hotels, winetastings, sailing trips and each driver was beyond our expectations! Each experience and location was special and unique.

The only "kink", which really wasn't a kink was using a credit card....this was an issue on our side. Ricardo was great figuring things out and problem solved!

Ricardo went above and beyond! Every detail was taken care of. This vacation, starting in Lisbon, then to Porto, Douro Valley and ending in Cascais was truly made exceptional by the hard work of Ricardo. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending 4u2enjoy!
