Pick up from your accommodation towards Coimbra to start your full-day private tour. Here you will spend the morning, admiring Coimbra’s old town, famous above all for its ancient university: one of the world’s first with some of the city’s main architectural treasures, especially its beautiful library full of priceless books.

This city consists of an upper and lower town. The bridge, Ponte de Santa Clara, crosses the Mondego River and leads onto the main square, Largo da Portagem, at its north-east bank.

From here the lower town spreads out principally along the busy and happening Rua Ferreira Borges to the next main square, Praca do Comercio.

A little further up Rua Visconde da Luz is Santa Cruz, a Gothic church housing the remains of Afonso Henriques, Portugal’s first king and worth a visit for its exquisite azulejos tiles.

After this, you will stop for lunch in an amazing Portuguese restaurant in Coimbra or nearby.

Next stop on your full-day private tour from Porto is Luso and Bucaco in the afternoon. The small town of Luso just north of Coimbra is famous for one thing in particular: water.

Agua de Luso is synonymous with good quality mineral water in Portugal and thousands of bottles of this precious liquid are consumed daily across the nation. It flows freely from fountains and springs in the town and is also renowned for its healing qualities, hence the fact that Luso is one of Portugal’s most important spa towns.

However, one cannot mention Luso without also mentioning the neighboring town of Bucaco and the beautiful forest that lies nearby.

Its peaceful charm attracted barefoot Carmelite monks seeking solitude and space for spiritual contemplation in the 17th century, although other orders had inhabited and lovingly cultivated it since the 6th century.

Nowadays in the center of this walled area in the south of the Bucaco hills, stands an impressive hotel with a top class restaurant and romantic balconies offering picturesque views of the forest. Built-in 1900 as a summer residence and hunting lodge for the royal family, its elaborate pseudo-Manueline design evokes a turreted castle and its name, the Palace Hotel of Bucaco.

We had a wonderful experience with 4U2Enjoy, and have nothing but compliments for this company, but really for the people we interacted with. We decided to use them based on the reviews we read on this site (which we don't always fully trust), but in this case, the reviews were 100% accurate. Ricardo was extremely helpful and communicative from the moment we reached out to him a few weeks before arriving in Portugal. We spoke to him in person and he helped us design 2 different customized tours. I felt from the first time I interacted with him that this was a very personal company with very personal service, and that was exactly our experience during the planning process as well as during the tours. We were met at the airport and transported to Porto in a luxury vehicle. We were fortunate to have Miguel as our driver and tour guide, and he was incredible. For such a young man, he is extremely knowledgeable and professional. It is clear that he is passionate about his job and his enthusiasm in sharing his country with us was amazing, not to mention the amount of knowledge he has...there was not one question we asked him that he didn't know the answer to, and we asked a lot of them! We spent the entire day with him after landing in Lisbon, jet lagged and having only spent a few hours sleeping on the plane, yet we were able to really enjoy the long day which included three different short city tours and an incredible authentic Portuguese lunch in Nazare. It ended up being one of the best days we had while in Portugal, and we were fortunate to have another opportunity to drive back to Lisbon with Miguel stopping in other places along the way. We will definitely use this company again for any transportation or touring we do next time we are in Portugal and highly recommend them to anyone who is seeking the same.

Ricardo was more than accommodating! His help and service was 5 star. He coordinated so many things for us, was there to make sure we made our activities. We had 3 drivers that were personable, safe and kind. Jakim (totally did not spell this correctly) was my favorite although the other two drivers were safe and informative on our drives from city to city. I can’t say enough about Ricardo’s service. He was always available to text or call for any questions or suggestions. I would totally reserve his services again when in Portugal!

I visited Portugal in October as part of a work trip, and added on a few days of solo travel at the end. Ricardo worked with our company to organize amazing excursions and visits. Every one of his choices was top notch from the restaurants to the hotels to the experiences. Ricardo went above and beyond, making sure I had everything I needed for my solo travels at the end of the work trip. He was very thorough, detail-oriented, and knowledgeable, and generally just a lovely human being. I am not one to seek out a tour company when I travel for personal reasons, but if I return to Portugal (hopefully someday with my family), I will 100% be contacting Ricardo to help make the most of my time there. Punctuality, well planned, friendliness, well adjusted for our needs and expectations of the places visited, excellent vehicles, great restaurant suggestions were important factors that made us enjoy the whole experience.
